In college, I was an athlete always striving to become one of the best but then after many injuries I could never get back into the shape I wanted to be. After going to the chiropractor it made a huge difference in my ability to run again and keep running so that my education could be paid for through my track and cross country scholarship at Dallas Baptist University. When I saw the difference chiropractic made in my life I knew I had to help others out of pain so that they too could pursue the things they were most passionate about without any hindrance.
As my education continued through chiropractic school I decided to do a body building competition where the workout regimen and diet were strict. I realized during the strict diet that my skin began to clear up and much of my bloating in my midsection started to disappear. One day during a cheat meal with pasta and cheese I noticed the next day my skin broke out in cystic acne and my stomach was extremely bloated. The question of how the things we eat can have certain implications on how we feel and look started to come to the forefront of my mind. When the body building show ended and I started trying to transition to the typical “normal food” of pizza, tacos, burgers, etc. I didn’t feel right, I was getting sick, my skin would break out, and my stomach would begin to have digestive issues.
This led me to many allergy tests and doctor visits later with no true answer of what was going on. Then a fellow chiropractor who practiced Nutrition Response testing was able to figure out what was wrong with me and recommend the proper whole food supplements in order to help give nutrients to my body so it could feel better. This safe, non-invasive muscle testing changed my life. Not only did my eczema go away but my chronic bloating, digestive issues, fatigue, brain fog, & anxiety all started disappearing as well! As I continued my education in my doctorate I started to pursue my Master’s in Functional Nutrition in order to understand more of the science of how food effects us. This process has made me more passionate about the nutrients we feed our body and how the body compensates through muscular and structural dysfunctions in order to alert the brain that an organ is in need of specific nutrition.
I have combined both nutrition and chiropractic into my practice in order to help individuals become in tune with their higher self and bring awareness to their bodies capability to heal given the right conditions.
